The IHC directs that Zartaj Gul’s name be taken off of the ECL.
The court ordered the Assistant Attorney General to provide a report on this matter in a week based on the information provided.
Zartaj Gul is the subject of two cases, both of which have been granted bail, the court was informed during the hearing when it asked about the status of the cases against her.
Justice Tariq Mahmood said that only the names of assembly members are listed in the ECL, not the names of terrorists.
The court questioned the reason Zartaj Gul’s name being on the ECL even though he was booked in juvenile cases that required bail.
The court issued a warning, stating that summonses might be issued to anyone who mistakenly put her name in the ECL.
Prior to this, Zartaj Gul, the leader of the PTI, was granted temporary release by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with May 9 violence and vandalism at Gujranwala Cantt.
Zartaj Gul’s request for temporary bail was granted by the ATC judge, who also ordered her to assist the investigators through April 18. On the condition that the petitioner provide written assurance of their future appearance, the temporary bail was granted.
