Prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan have increased.

The Finance Division has formally announced a notification, establishing the new price of fuel at Rs265.61 per litre, which is an increase of Rs7.45 from the previous price of Rs258.16 per litre. This increase puts additional financial strain on the public, who are already affected by inflation.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs 9.56 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs 277.45 per litre from the previous rate of Rs 267.89 per litre.

It is important to note that petrol prices in Pakistan were anticipated to rise from July 1st following four straight reductions in price.

Based on sources, it is anticipated that the price of petrol will rise by Rs7 per litre and the price of HSD will increase by Rs8 per liter due to increasing rates in the international market.

In the past two weeks, the global prices for petrol and HSD have increased by $4.4 and $5.5 per barrel, respectively.

The increase in fuel prices may result in domestic price increases, which may be even more substantial if the government decides to raise the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) from its present rate of Rs60 per liter.
