Additional NADRA officials implicated in the counterfeit passport case have been identified.
The last phases of the FIA’s investigation are complete, and the accountable officials have been named. The sources disclosed that, with the assistance of Pakistani families, Afghan residents were given Pakistani ID cards in return for bribery.
After Majidullah, an Afghan national, was apprehended for attempting to obtain a Pakistani passport, the investigation was launched.
According to the investigation, Majidullah got an ID card by pretending to be a family member and accepting bribes. The necessary NADRA officials’ statements have already been recorded by the FIA, and action against the accused is imminent.
As the investigation moves further, more arrests are anticipated, according to the sources.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Interior gave the order to file a lawsuit against the Afghan citizens who were discovered in Saudi Arabia in possession of phony identification cards and passports from Pakistan.
The FIA sources claim that the competent authorities chose to notify 12,500 Afghan nationals under section 18 of the NADRA code in accordance with Ministry of Interior orders.
FIA sources disclosed that 5,500 Pakistani identity cards were issued from Quetta and Peshawar, while the 593 Afghan nationals who received bogus IDs came from Islamabad.
