The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has apprehended a high-ranking associate of Osama bin Laden, the notorious terrorist leader.
DIG CTD Usman Akram Gondal announced at a press conference in Lahore that Amin al-Haq, a significant member of Al-Qaeda, was apprehended yesterday.
He asserted that the apprehended Al-Qaeda operative’s name is featured in the roster of terrorists sought by the United States and the European Union.
The CTD has initiated an inquiry into the issue, referring to the arrest as a noteworthy advancement, according to DIG CTD Usman Akram Gondal.
In September 2019, the former US President Donald Trump officially announced that Hamza bin Laden, the son and chosen successor of Osama bin Laden, the founder of Al-Qaeda, was eliminated in a “counter-terrorism” mission.
According to intelligence officials, US media reported in late July and early August that the younger Bin Laden was killed during the past two years in a United States operation.
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper officially verified the death of Bin Laden last month, stating that it was his knowledge that Bin Laden was deceased.
On May 2, 2011, a group of United States Navy SEALs conducted a swift operation known as Neptune Spear, lasting less than 40 minutes, in which they entered a seemingly regular compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. During this operation, they successfully killed Osama bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda.
Osama Bin Laden was internationally sought after as a terrorist due to his direct participation in the September 11, 2001, assault on the Twin Towers in New York.
