IHC requests a report on the facilities offered to the PTI founder at Adiala Prison.
The plea was considered by Chief Justice IHC Justice, Aamer Farooq. In front of the IHC, counsel Azhar Siddique spoke on behalf of the PTI founder.
The IHC CJ stated at the beginning of the session that because they are aware of the situation on the ground, the court would question the Adiala Jail officials about the facilities provided to the former prime minister.
Right now, the counsel Azhar Siddique stated that his client is not permitted to use WhatsApp to communicate with his boys.
CJ Justice Farooq told the applicant’s attorney to “wait a bit, let the authorities answer.”
After calling for a thorough report on the amenities given to the PTI founder over the previous two weeks, the IHC postponed the hearing till August 22.
Earlier, the Punjab Advocate General received a letter from IG Prisons requesting that the inmates be granted the same rights as Imran Khan, which included having six daily consultations with his lawyers.
The inmates have voiced their displeasure with the previous prime minister’s privileged treatment. They contend that it is against the 1978 Prison Rules to grant such facilities to one individual while refusing them to others.
The detainees sought the same amenities and care as the PTI founder. They have also asked that the amenities given to Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister, Imran Khan, and other political prisoners be examined and expanded to include all detainees.
