MQM-P vows to leave the coalition government
Senior MQM-P leader and MNA Farooq Sattar has threatened the ruling PML-N in a media interview, saying that removing Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori from office would have dire repercussions.
Sattar issued a warning, saying, “MQM-P will reconsider its alliance with the government if it fails to keep its promise of retaining Tessori as the Sindh governor.” It was also mentioned that Tessori’s continued governorship over Sindh was agreed upon when the government was formed.
Along with expressing disappointment over the government’s plan to “replace” Tessori, the MQM leader called it a betrayal of confidence.
Previously, Tessori’s removal rumors had been refuted by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who stated that the reports were untrue.
The revelation coincides with long-running rumors regarding Tessori’s dismissal. In a statement criticizing the government’s handling of the situation, the MQM threatened dire repercussions should Tessori be removed.
According to people familiar with the situation, talks between the PML-N and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) over a possible governor switch in Sindh have been underway.
