Colleges and schools will stay closed
Today, August 22, all public and private schools and universities in Islamabad will remain closed, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on X, the former Twitter platform.
The PTI gathering in the nation’s capital city left the city in a volatile state, which is why the decision was made, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.
The Red Zone will not be open to the public for protests, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The government’s top goal, he stated while presiding over a high-level conference in Islamabad, is preserving peace and order.
While protests are everyone’s right, they should stay in approved spaces and not interfere with people’s daily lives.
Those who take the law into their own hands would face severe consequences, Mohsin Naqvi added.
PTI calls off the demonstration.
Since the Islamabad administration revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the public gathering, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has stated that it will postpone the Islamabad power display that was originally slated for today, August 22.
According to specifics, the statement that Imran Khan, the party founder, had ordered the postponement of the Islamabad power show was given by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
On September 8, PTI leaders were given the NOC and the deputy commissioner granted permission for the party to hold a rally in Islamabad.
The NOC for the public meeting organized by PTI today was revoked by the Islamabad government yesterday.
At an Intelligence Committee meeting presided over by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, a decision was reached. Permission for the public assembly cannot be granted under such conditions, the district said, adding that religious parties have also called for protests.
