A vendor of snow leopard skins has been arrested in Punjab
Details state that the crew detained the accused during a search and seizure operation at a private society, recovering snow leopard skin.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Wildlife Department, the international market value of a rare snow leopard skin is approximately 20,000 dollars (Rs5.6 million).
A spokesman claimed that the group was using social media to sell the skins of pricey and uncommon wildlife creatures illegally.
Senior Minister for Punjab Maryam Aurangzeb stated that such actions are increasing the risk to endangered animals in Pakistan and that there is a zero-tolerance stance on wildlife preservation legislation.
Among the other threatened animal species in Pakistan are the snow leopards. The range of snow leopards in Pakistan is 250–420, according to World Population Review.
The majority of snow leopards’ range is in the mountainous northern regions of Pakistan.
Usually hunting at dawn and dusk, snow leopards are elusive, lonely animals. They are sly hunters who can take down prey up to three times their own body weight.
