SHC requires a survey from mobile providers regarding “poor” internet service.
On the grounds of Karachi City Court, the SHC heard the complaint over “poor” internet and mobile phone service.
The Karachi Bar Association’s secretary general and president made the petition.
Following the plea hearing, the SHC directed the cellular companies to conduct a joint survey regarding complaints of “poor” internet services, and to submit the results in a fortnight.
A two-week adjournment has been placed on the hearing.
An update on the recent nationwide internet slowdown was previously provided by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The PTA blamed poor internet connections in the nation mostly on malfunctioning marine cables in a statement released here.
“It is to notify the public that a malfunction in two of the seven international submarine cables linking Pakistan internationally is the cause of the continuous slowdown and deterioration of services throughout the nation,” the PTA stated in a release.
It further stated that a 250G outage occurred on the AAE-1 cable as a result of rerouting between Iran and Qatar, and that problems close to Karachi have rendered the 1.5T SMW 4 cable inoperable.
