JUI-F disputes the government assertion that it supports a constitutional amendment.

Without express permission from the leadership, the JUI-F directed its senators to abstain from senate voting.

A policy letter was sent to Senators Kamran Murtaza, Maulana Abdul Wasey, Abdul Shakoor Khan, and Ahmed Khan by Senator Atta-ur-Rehman, the party’s parliamentary leader, according to sources.

The letter said that without formal approval from the party leadership, no senator could vote on any constitutional revisions.

Any senator who engages in unapproved voting runs the risk of losing their job, according to the JUI-F leadership.
