Bushra Bibi petitions the IHC for bail in the context of Toshakhana-II.
According to information provided by the Islamabad High Court, the spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan appealed the decision that denied her request for release.
The court was urged to grant the post-arrest bail request by her attorney, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, on the grounds that the charges against her are untrue and that the witnesses were coerced into making false statements against her in the Toshakhana case.
Former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi’s post-arrest bail requests in the Toshakhana-II case were earlier denied by a special judge central.
Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand heard the pleas at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
The special court that was set up within Adiala Jail was attended by both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Shortly after being found not guilty in the Iddat case, Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi were taken into custody on July 13 in connection with a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case pertaining to Toshakhana.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were taken into custody from the Adiala Jail by the NAB team led by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon.
The change occurred when the appeals against their conviction in the Iddat case filed by former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi were allowed by the Islamabad district and sessions court.
A trial court had earlier this year declared the couple’s nikah to be fraudulent, leading to their seven-year prison sentence and a Rs. 500,000 fine each.
With the verdict, the last legal barrier that had been preventing the ousted prime leader from leaving prison is removed. In the cipher case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) cleared him, but his sentences in the two Toshakhana cases were suspended.
