The Punjab government enforces Section 144 in Lahore.
The limitations are in place to preserve peace and order, safeguard people and property, and will be in place from Thursday, October 3 (today) to Tuesday, October 8.
Public events could be easy targets for terrorists, according to the notification. The notification officially imposing Section 144 has been released by the Punjab Home Department.
Prior to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) scheduled protest this Saturday in Lahore, the action was initiated.
Ahead of the planned tightening of security measures, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) authorities implemented the Peaceful Assembly Act and Section 144 throughout the capital, forbidding meetings and processions in designated zones.
Police have issued a statement stating that the red zone, high-security zone, and the adjacent areas are restricted areas where the law is strictly enforced.
Protecting civilians’ lives and property is the ICT Police’s mission, he declared.
Anyone found engaging in unlawful activity would face consequences, he declared.The people are asked, he stated, to refrain from holding any unauthorized meetings.
