About Bushra Bibi’s bail in the Toshakhana case, IHC notifies the FIA

Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the IHC conducted the plea. The attorney for Bushra Bibi stated at the beginning of the hearing that his client will be entering jail on July 13th.

The lawyer claimed that the trial court denied the bail application and ordered a transfer to the high court.

The IHC directed FIA to submit their plea answer the following week following the original hearing.

The attorney for Bushra Bibi asked for the plea to be set for Monday, but Judge Aurangzeb turned that motion down. As the Registrar Office will arrange the new date, the judge instructed the attorney to “let the things move in the routine.”

Just hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case, Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi were taken into custody on July 13 in connection with a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference pertaining to Toshakhana.

Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon’s NAB squad detained Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from the Adiala Jail.

The appeals made by former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi against their conviction in the Iddat case were allowed by the Islamabad district and sessions court, which lead to the current development.

Earlier this year in February, a trial court had declared the couple’s nikah to be fraudulent, leading to their seven-year prison sentence and a Rs 500,000 fine apiece.
