Barrister Gohar is reassured by Mohsin Naqvi that he met the founder of PTI.
A meeting with Imran Khan’s personal physician has been sought by Barrister Gohar, but Naqvi contacted him late at night to tell him that he would be able to meet Imran Khan alone.
This occurred after PTI declared that, should the party be denied permission to meet with Imran Khan, the party founder, it would stage “massive” protests at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on October 15.
The condition for the government to pull out of the planned protest was imposed by PTI Central Secretary for Information Sheikh Waqas Akram.
Sheikh Waqas Akram warned of “massive protests on October 15 if you allow party founder Imran Khan’s meeting with his family and lawyers.”
For the last five or six weeks, he claimed, the government has prohibited anyone from meeting Imran Khan, including his family and attorneys.
“It is distressing to hear about tales of mistreatment in jail, and we have no communication with our leader, Imran Khan. Not the Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference, but Imran Khan’s access is what we are protesting for,” Sheikh Waqas Akram continued.
In order to win support for the constitutional reforms, he said, the government is “harassing” the families of PTI MNAs.
An key point to remember is that Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is now being held at Adiala Jail and is not allowed to interact with his family, attorneys, or party leaders.
Reportedly, the jail administration justified this prohibition by pointing to security concerns.
It was disclosed by sources that the Punjab government’s meeting prohibition, which also applies to other inmates at Adiala Jail, will remain in effect until October 18.
