Committee to look into “rape incident” at private institution is formed by Punjab CM
To look into the claims of “rape” made against a female student at a private institution, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, has assembled a high-level committee.
The chief secretary of Punjab would serve as the chair of the six-member committee, as per the announcement. Members of the committee will include the secretaries of home affairs, advocacy general of Punjab, higher education, and specialized healthcare.
According to the announcement, the committee may add further members as necessary.
In addition to recording comments from students, instructors, and college management, the committee will gather evidence pertaining to the proposed assault.
It will also look at the police’s involvement and other relevant details, as well as the response of the college administration.
Reportedly abused by a security guard at a private college, the daughter’s father has told authorities that the protests being held in his daughter’s honor are baseless.
He said, “Protests that have nothing to do with our daughter are being used as a basis for them.” He revealed that his daughter had fallen at home and broken her back, requiring an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) stay.
He said, looking shocked after seeing video of the protests involving his daughter, “We have given the police our daughter’s medical reports.” “That anguish can be experienced by those who have daughters,” he emphasized.
