SC rejects appeal against proposed constitutional change
Following the petitioner’s attorney’s appeal for its withdrawal, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa rejected a plea against the proposed 26th constitutional amendment.
In addition to Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, the three-member bench hearing the case included these two members.
After Advocate Hamid Khan asked to rescind the plea, the bench of the supreme court dismissed the petition objecting to the planned constitutional modification.
In court, Hamid stated, “We want to take back the petition.” Has your sole reason for employment been returning the petition? The chief judge stated to Hamid Khan that Abid Zuberi could drop the plea on his own. “There’s also a second petition set up with the plea for objections,” Qazi Faez declared. Hamid Khan declared, “We’re returning both petitions.”
During his tenure, CJP Qazi Faez Isa said, “Mr. Abid Zuberi, I didn’t fix your another case.” Later on, Hamid Khan promised to rectify it. Does the Chief Justice understand the petition that he is referring to? Respondent Abid Zuberi responded, “Yes, we have understood.”
