Gas bill geyser charges are first collected by SSGC.

Based on the available information, SSGC billed the customers an extra Rs 2,085 for “conical baffle” expenses. The additional fees have caused great anguish for millions of customers in the 3.2 million subscriber network.

According to information coming to light, homeowners who had geysers put in their homes or not were nonetheless faced with inflated rates. The installation of conical baffles was preceded by additional fees.

The installation of conical baffles has been approved to promote consumer safety and lower gas prices, the OGRA clarified in response to consumer uproar.

Customer objections over costs without a geyser should be directed to the company or the OGRA, the spokeswoman recommended.

Conical baffle installations involved surveys, according to SSGC officials, and fees were implemented only with the OGRA’s consent. Work on the installation has started, according to contractors.

If a customer has any issues about conical baffles, SSGC advised them to get in touch with the closest Customer Facilitation Center for assistance.

It should be recalled that on January 5, 2023, during a meeting presided over by the prime minister of Pakistan to discuss the advancement of energy-saving initiatives, the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) of the Government of Pakistan recommended and mandated that both Sui companies install conical baffles in the customers’ existing geysers.
