PTI sends lawmakers a show-cause letter for “defying” party policy.
Members of parliament were sent show-cause notices by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly disobeying the party about the 26th constitutional amendment.
The PTI sent show-cause notes to Riyaz Fatiana, Zain Qureshi, Aslam Ghuman, and Muqdad Ali Khan, instructing them to respond for displaying indiscipline by breaking the party’s rules.
By proposing constitutional modifications, the government intended to “attack” the judiciary’s independence, according to the notification.
“The notice stated that all PTI senators and MNAs were instructed not to endorse the bill for a constitutional amendment.”
It added that all PTI senators and MNAs were instructed not to vote on the amendments and to stay in a safe and designated place and all members were bound to follow the instructions of the party.
Following his father Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s counsel, PTI MNA Zain Qureshi decided to go into hiding.
According to Zain’s video confession, his father, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, gave him the order to vanish.
When asked if he would support the changes, Zain said, “I could never think of voting for this constitutional amendment.” These assertions, he said, were “baseless propaganda.”
Zain added that he was still incarcerated in Lahore due to a separate matter when his father called him there.
According to Zain, his father insisted against approving the constitutional amendment in any case. “Misleading propaganda is being spread against me regarding my support for the constitutional amendment,” he said.
