Justice Yahya Afridi honors Chief Justice Isa at a full court reference.

During a full court reference honoring outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the incoming Chief Justice of Pakistan conveyed his sorrow for Justice Isa’s retirement.

Justice Afridi stated, “The absence of CJP Justice Isa will be significant, and collaborating with him offered numerous invaluable learning opportunities.”

Justice Afridi stated that the luncheon in honor of CJP Qazi Faez Isa is privately funded, not by the state, emphasizing the cordial connections within the judiciary.

He observed that although there were divergent viewpoints with Justice Isa across multiple benches, Justice Isa consistently remained receptive to their perspectives.

Designated CJP Justice Afridi reiterated his dedication to maintaining the principles of power devaluation.

Six judges abstain from full court reference

Six Supreme Court justices did not attend the full court reference for outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

According to the information, six Supreme Court justices, namely Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Malik Shehzad, opted to abstain from the full court reference convened in tribute to the departing Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah would not attend the entire court reference for outgoing Chief Justice Isa.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa is set to retire today (Friday) after over a year of service.

The inauguration ceremony for new Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is scheduled for tomorrow. The President, Asif Ali Zardari, will officiate the oath-taking ceremony for the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.

On Thursday evening, a goodbye dinner was organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Pakistan Bar Council to honor outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

The gathering was attended by the appointed Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, Supreme Court justices, and Chief Justices from all high courts.

This week, President Asif Ali Zardari formally sanctioned the selection of Justice Yahya Afridi as chief justice, succeeding Qazi Faez Isa, who retired on October 25 (today).
