Elections to the Supreme Court Bar are under way.
Voting for the Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) central office bearers, vice presidents, and executive members from the provinces officially began on Tuesday.
While Salman Mansoor and Malik Zahid Aslam are running for the position of secretary of the SCBA, Rauf Atta of the Asma Jahangir group (Independents) and Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar of Hamid Khan’s group (Professionals) are running for the position of Bar president.
Three candidates, Khushhal Khan Awan, Nadeem Qureshi, and Yousuf Molvi, are running for the position of Vice President Sindh chapter in the SC Bar’s annual election. Aurangzeb Khan and Zubair Hussain are running for the position of Additional Secretary, and four candidates, Amir Jamil Virk, Ahmed Ali Diwan, Naveed ul Haq, and Rizwana Jameel, are running for the position of executive member Sindh.
Among the more over 4,000 voters who will participate in the SCBA elections, the majority—1,414—will come from Lahore, followed by Karachi (516), and Peshawar (372).
The voting process started at 9:00 a.m. and lasted until 5:00 p.m.
