NEPRA has received 12,938 grievances against electricity companies.
As per the official document, during the first three months of the current fiscal year, NEPRA saw a significant increase in consumer complaints against electrical firms.
In the last three months, 12,938 grievances against the DISCOs have been filed with NEPRA.
The NEPRA received 3,588 complaints against LESCO, FESCO 2,302 complaints, and MEPCO 2,177 complaints, the report states.
In the last three months, K-Electric has been the target of 1,268 complaints, according to the documents.
On September 23, Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) was fined Rs10 million by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for failing to put safety measures in place.
Previously, LESCO was told to earth all of their poles, but they didn’t follow the instructions, according to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority.
Consequently, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority ordered LESCO to finish earthing the remaining steel structures within three months in addition to penalizing the company.
Furthermore, LESCO is required to finish earthing PCC poles within a year. K-Electric, FESCO, and GEPCO were among the other corporations that had previously been subject to such sanctions.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority previously fined K-Electric (KE) Rs 10 million for the electrocution accidents that killed 33 individuals in Karachi between 2022 and 2023.
