The Punjab government has no plans to purchase PIA: Azma Bokhari

According to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, the Punjab government has no intention of purchasing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Monday.

According to her, the idea of starting a different airline specifically for Punjab was considered, but purchasing the national flag carrier was not.

An excellent airline is needed in Pakistan. Mian Nawaz Sharif is criticised by Pakistanis living abroad for the difficulties they encounter when using the PIA. The right to launch their own airlines belongs to the provinces,” she continued.

The Information Minister expressed curiosity regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s interest in buying the PIA, stating that it was odd that “a debt-stressed provincial government” was considering doing so.

She further stated that before expressing interest in purchasing the PIA, the KP government should pay off other obligations.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was praised by the Information Minister for initiating multiple development projects while controlling the province’s spending.
