On November 9, a public holiday was declared.

The cabinet division’s official statement states that the citizens of Pakistan will observe a public holiday on November 9.

Iqbal Day is celebrated in Pakistan every year on November 9th to honor the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet and philosopher of the country.

Born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877, Iqbal obtained his initial education in a traditional maktab before attending Sialkot Mission School, where he completed his matriculation examinations.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Government College, Lahore in 1897 and attained his Master’s degree two years subsequently. He was employed as a lecturer in history, philosophy, and English at Lahore’s Oriental College.

Iqbal originated the concept of Pakistan and using poetry to inspire Muslims, particularly the young of the subcontinent, in their resistance against British rule and their quest for an independent country.

Regrettably, he could not survive to witness the realization of a distinct nation for Muslims and died on April 21, 1938.

Iqbal Day commemorates Iqbal’s lasting influence on Pakistani culture, literature, and identity. His concepts persist in inspiring generations, cultivating national pride and cohesion.
