In Gilgit Baltistan, PM Shehbaz places the cornerstone of Ramday University.
On Thursday, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif laid the cornerstone for the construction of Ramday University in Thagos, Gilgit Baltistan’s district Ghanche.
Islamabad hosted the historic occasion. Under a trust, Ramday University is being built, and the funds contributed by Pakistanis residing overseas will be utilized to complete the project.
PM Shehbaz addressed at the event and congratulated Justice (retd) Khalil ur Rehman Ramday and his colleagues on the establishment of Ramday University.
“We are grateful for the efforts of all the individuals and institutions that helped to establish Ramday University,” he continued.
According to the prime minister, today we have laid the groundwork for a promising future for the children in this place. “The founding of a university in a remote region such as Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan, is very encouraging.”
The varsity, which is situated at an elevation of 11,000 feet in Thagos, will surpass the current levels of research and knowledge, according to PM Shehbaz.
“The private sector plays a crucial role in advancing education in Pakistan,” he stated, adding that graduates of private schools have distinguished Pakistan in all spheres.
PM Shehbaz emphasized that the government’s main priority were the welfare of the people and the development of Gilgit-Baltistan. He also mentioned that yesterday, while on a visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, 62 flood-affected families received their homes.
He added that a 100 megawatt solar energy project has been started in Gilgit-Baltistan to help supply electricity to the area.
According to the prime minister, he also announced the Gilgit-Baltistan Education and Endowment Fund during his recent visit to the region. This fund will help talented and deserving students from the area become contributing members of society and help Pakistan develop.
Ramday University is being built on a 200-kanal plot of land in the Thagos neighborhood of the Ghanche district of Gilgit-Baltistan, according to Justice (retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday.
He said that Ramday University would provide instruction in environmental studies, climate change, hydrology, minerals, and other areas. “It will be one of the highest universities to be built at one of the highest altitudes in the world,” he stated.
