Punjab offers wheat growers free tractors and land levelers.
Wheat growers will receive free tractors and field levelers, according to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In an effort to increase agricultural output and assist wheat farmers, the Punjab government announced this as part of a prize package worth billions of rupees.
Farmers who grow wheat on 12.5–25 hectares of land will be eligible to get 1,000 land levelers as part of the initiative, and those who own more than 25 acres of farmland will be eligible to acquire 1,000 green tractors at no cost.
To ensure a fair and open allocation procedure, these agricultural instruments will be given out using a lottery system.
Punjab’s farmers would receive full support and would not be left behind, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed. To the farmers, she referred to them as “our brothers” and promised that the government will do everything in its power to ensure their welfare. “Our Punjabi farmers will receive our full support.” Our main goal is their prosperity and the resurgence of agriculture,” she said.
The government will support farmers with equipment and, through the Kisan Card program, offer interest-free high-quality seeds, fertilizer, and herbicides for growing wheat.
“Record projects were started for farmers in a few months, of which there is no example in history,” Maryam argued.
The free tractor and field leveler program is available to farmers who visit the relevant website and Facebook page or phone the agricultural helpline, she said. The department’s extension office is another resource for wheat farmers.
By eliminating middlemen and guaranteeing that benefits reach farmers directly, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Kisan Card” idea was introduced in Hafizabad on October 28.
Maryam clarified that Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister, was supposed to propose this plan but was unable to do so because of international obligations. She emphasized the commitment of the government to developing policies that address the effects of increased wheat prices and give priority to farmer welfare.
“We were criticized for not purchasing wheat earlier, but supporting farmers’ profit margins has always been a top priority,” she continued.
A total of 1.5 million applications have already been received for the “Green Tractor Scheme,” which Maryam also announced. The initiative aimed to offer up to Rs1 million in subsidies for tractors valued at approximately Rs4 million.
In order to provide farmers with reasonably priced equipment, the government also set aside Rs10–15 billion to create machinery hubs in each tehsil…. Maryam announced plans to transfer 7,000 tube wells that are now powered by diesel and gasoline to solar power in an effort to minimize energy prices and farmers’ electricity bills.
