Islamabad, KP shaken by 5.3 magnitude earthquake
Quakes were felt in Islamabad, Swat, Malakand, Charsadda, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral, Upper Dir, Khyber, Landi Kotal, Jamrod, Tirah, Buner, and other cities in KP, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC).
“The Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan was the centre of the earthquake and its depth was 220 kilometres,” stated the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad.
Fearful folks recited Kalma-e-Tayyaba as they emerged from their homes after the tremors.
It did not, however, leave any reports of casualties or damage to property.
An earlier tremor rattled Swat and the neighbouring regions with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale.
With its epicentre in the Hindu Kush Mountain range, the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 89 km.
Locals in Swat and the surrounding areas were momentarily terrified by tremors. No damage or casualties were reported immediately, though.
A 5.4-magnitude earthquake was felt in portions of Pakistan on September 11, primarily in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
Some areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as Islamabad, felt earthquakes, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC).
An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred at 12:29 PKT, with the epicentre located close to DG Khan and the earthquake’s depth measuring 10 km, according to a statement from the PMD.
