Following his historic triumph in Australia’s ODIs, Mohammad Rizwan is aiming for a T20I sweep.
Pakistan’s white-ball skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, has articulated his aspiration to secure a clean sweep against Australia in the forthcoming three-match T20I series.
Rizwan assumed the captaincy of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team following Babar Azam’s resignation from the role last month.
In his inaugural assignment as captain, he adeptly led his team to a momentous victory, ending a 22-year drought by clinching an ODI series triumph in Australia.
Pakistan suffered a defeat in the initial match of the three-match series by two wickets; nevertheless, they executed a remarkable resurgence in the subsequent two matches, securing their inaugural series victory in Australia since 2002.
The team is preparing for the T20I series commencing on November 14 in Brisbane, with further matches in Sydney and Hobart on November 16 and 18, respectively.
Rizwan, when speaking to his teammates in the dressing room, expressed his steadfast confidence in their capabilities.
He motivated the players, asserting that they possess not only the ability to overcome Australia in the T20I series but also the potential to achieve a clean sweep.
No one anticipated that the team would triumph over Australia on their home soil. Rizwan asserted, “We performed cohesively, and if we maintain this approach, we will achieve a clean sweep in T20Is.”
The wicket-keeper urged his players to avoid complacency following their series victory and to aspire for larger accomplishments such as the Champions Trophy and the World Cup.
“It is acceptable that we have commemorated the ODI series victory, as no one anticipated our success in Australia,” he remarked. “However, I believe we must all endeavour to secure prestigious titles such as the World Cups and Champions Trophy to demonstrate the potential of Pakistan cricket.”
