The apex committee meeting to evaluate anti-terrorism measures has been rescheduled.
The Apex Committee meeting of the National Action Plan (NAP) initially planned for today has been postponed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, scheduled to preside over the important session, had to postpone the meeting owing to conflicting obligations. The meeting has been rescheduled to occur tomorrow.
The session was organised to assess the advancement of the National Action Plan on Anti-Terrorism and was anticipated to assemble senior civil and military leadership, federal ministers, along with the chief ministers and chief secretaries of all four provinces.
The meeting primarily aimed to evaluate the existing security conditions nationwide, with particular emphasis on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where terrorist occurrences have increased.
The meeting aimed to evaluate the execution of NAP, as well as to enhance cooperation between provincial and federal agencies and improve intelligence-sharing channels.
Critical determinations about the enhancement of internal security and the mitigation of escalating terrorism risks were also included in the agenda.
The committee was anticipated to receive a briefing on recent intelligence-driven operations and assess the efficacy of existing counter-terrorism policies.
The National Action Plan, established following the 2014 Army Public School attack, constitutes the foundation of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy.
