Azhar Ali is appointed Head of Youth Development by PCB.
Azhar is also a member of the Men’s National Selection Committee; therefore, this position will be an addition to his current duties.
Azhar, a well-known character in Pakistani cricket, started his career in 2002 at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup before moving up to the senior squad.
During a stellar career that lasted from 2010 to 2022, he was awarded 53 ODI and 97 Test caps. He led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and captained the team in nine Test matches and thirty-one One-Day Internationals.
In his capacity as Head of Youth Development, Azhar Ali is in charge of directing Pakistani cricket’s future. His responsibilities include developing and carrying out all-encompassing youth cricket plans, creating robust grassroots cricket organizations, and creating talent pathways.
Additionally, he will work with local cricket associations to improve age-group programs and instruct young players via the PCB’s Pathways Program. To increase awareness of the crucial off-field development elements for potential players, he will also host clinics and seminars.
“I feel privileged and thrilled to assume this significant position. After progressing through the age group divisions and playing a lot of club and domestic cricket, I know how important grassroots development is in producing future stars,” Azhar added.
“There have already been notable advancements in this field, and I am eager to collaborate with my colleagues to further improve our youth development program.
“We want to find bright young people and give them the resources they need to succeed.”
The PCB thanked Azhar Ali on his appointment and conveyed their belief that his background and outlook will greatly advance Pakistani youth cricket’s development and prosperity.
