Khawaja Shaza Fatima promises to update the internet infrastructure.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for IT and Telecoms, promised on Sunday to improve the nation’s internet infrastructure, supporting the telecom industry’s infrastructure, and restoring ideal internet speeds.

“My ministry is making every effort to guarantee the industry’s smooth continuation.

She stated in an interview with a private news channel, “We are on high alert due to the recent surge in cyberattacks, and we are taking swift and decisive action to address these challenges and fortify our digital defenses.”

Additionally, Shaza Fatima Khawaja reiterated the government’s prioritization of safeguarding the telecom and IT sectors. According to her, the government is working to accomplish this goal by modernizing current systems and concentrating on important areas, such as increasing tower intensity, expanding broadband internet access, and addressing urgent cybersecurity issues to improve coverage, spur economic growth, and guarantee a safe online environment for citizens.

Responding to a query, the minister said that the Ministry of Interior will instruct the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to probe and resolve issues faced by citizens when sending videos while ensuring overall 100% internet speed remains unaffected.

The minister disclosed that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is contacted by the Interior Minister for support in the event of any problems. The administration is actively striving to address the issues, she said, acknowledging that they do exist.

Every citizen has the right to voice their thoughts, she underlined, and although digital platforms offer many avenues for self-expression, their momentary unavailability does not restrict people’s ability to do so.
