According to the apprehended accused, there are multiple extortion gangs in Lyari that operate from Iran.

After receiving an extortion call, Shahid, also known as Shooter, was detained by the police two days ago. He claimed to have taken Rs two lac from local shopkeepers Ateeq and Jabbar. “I received two phone numbers for extortion demands from a gang war operative, Yaqoob Mama, in a phone call from Iran,” he admitted.

The accused man claimed, “One of the traders gave me two lac rupees, and the other didn’t answer my phone.”

“A few days later, I got a call from another gang, claiming the man was theirs and questioning their demand for extortion,” the accused stated.

Several extortion groups operating out of Iran, he added. He claimed to live near Singu Lane in Lyari.
