According to Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Pakistan’s embassy in Syria is open and helping its people. Pakistani pilgrims in Syria have been kept in touch, and when Damascus Airport reopens, plans will be made for their homecoming.
Meanwhile, there is now more security for the Syrian diplomatic personnel in Pakistan. According to diplomatic sources, more steps have been taken to protect Ambassador Ramez Al-Razi, the Syrian embassy, and other employees.
Notably, more than 2,000 Pakistanis, including pilgrims, are in Syria at the moment. More than 700 Pakistanis have married and settled there with their families, making it their permanent home. A travel alert has already been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to the Syrian situation.
