Meta services globally disturbed

Reports indicate that WhatsApp users saw difficulties in sending and receiving messages, and Facebook users faced challenges with signing in and submitting posts. Instagram users experienced difficulties accessing or updating material.

DownDetector indicates that numerous users have reported issues; nevertheless, Meta has not released any announcement concerning the outage.

Given the essential function of Meta services as communication and social media platforms, the interruption is anticipated to be rectified within a few hours.

Users can visit the official Meta Support page or the Downdetector website for updates on the resolution of the issue. Downdetector offers instantaneous reports on service interruptions, classified by provider, alert timing, and geographical areas. The platform has documented approximately one thousand reports concerning this downtime.

In March 2024, Meta’s Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram experienced a global outage, rendering thousands of users unable to use the social media networks.

According to reports, the problems emerged at approximately 19:45 PST and are affecting both the applications and websites of the social media platforms. The outage will result in the rejection of your password, and Facebook will swiftly log out its users.

An error message indicating an expired login will surface, and login attempts following the outage will be met with rejected credentials.

Down Detector has recorded more than 300,000 reports since the initial notification, and Twitter along with other networks are overwhelmed with comparable outage reports.

Meanwhile, users were also unable to view the content on the picture-sharing platform Instagram, as the message “Something went wrong” appeared every time they tried to access the site.

Meta’s status dashboard indicated that the application programming interface for WhatsApp Business was experiencing difficulties.

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a post on X.

The social media giant has about 3.19 billion daily active users across its family of apps, which also include WhatsApp and Threads.
