Karachiites can reserve water tankers at government rates in the following ways.
In a significant step to better serve the public, Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, CEO of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB), has expanded the number of water tankers available to the general population.
The limit for subsidised water tankers has been raised, and all official hydrants now offer a 24/7 window service that makes it simple for residents to reserve water tankers at any time of day, according to the Hydrants Cell In-charge.
Commercial tanker services, especially on University Road, have been banned for three days by the KW&SB in order to preserve the water supply while continuing repairs are being made.
Throughout this time, the General Public Service will provide water tankers, even to residential apartments.
When using water tankers, the Hydrants Cell In-charge stated that computerised e-slips must be obtained. Any time tanker operators fail to issue e-slips, the public is encouraged to report it right away.
All official hydrants’ phone numbers have also been made available to the public for their convenience.
While continuous infrastructure construction is being done, these steps are meant to guarantee openness, equitable distribution, and convenience of access to water services.
According to reports a few days ago, the 84-inch water pipeline that was broken during construction and only fixed eight days ago began to leak again, causing the water crisis to resurface and affect inhabitants in the majority of the metropolitan city’s neighbourhoods.
Due to the ongoing Red Line construction, the pipeline burst at two points on December 3, causing a significant disruption in the water supply. This was the first issue. Over 2.5 billion gallons of water could not be delivered to the city during the eight-day repair work, which caused severe shortages.
