MOFA announces the identities of 47 Pakistanis who were rescued in the Greece boat incident.

47 Pakistanis were rescued after the fatal boat accident near Greece on Sunday, according to a list given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The list was created using information from Greek authorities and interviews with the Pakistani Embassy in Athens.

The names on the list include Umer Farooq, Muhammad Ahmad Shahzad, Mohsan Riaz, Talha, Raja Sajid, Raja Omar Nasir, Mehtab Rafaqat, Amir Habib, Muhammad Safdar, Nayyab Ahmed, Nadeem Ahmed, Umair Ahsan, Muhammad Bilal, Rahat Dilawar, Manzar Ali, Ahmed Mukhtar, Haroon Asghar, Muzamil Hussain, Jamshaid Ali, Jaffar Iqbal, Muhammad Majid, Muhammad Salman, Qasim Ali, Muhammad Abdullah, Osama Ali, Husnain Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Hammad, Hassan Ali, Bilal Hussain, Sarmad Akbar, Usman Ahmad, Shoaib Mushtaq, Abdul Hanan, Ali Hamza, Fahad Ali, Muhammad Imran, Abdul Latif Rehman, Salman Khalid, Harmain Ali, Zain Ali, Usama Basharat, Mirza Kamran, Muhammad Waqas Syfyan Zulfiqar, Tahir Raza, Shahroz Ali, and Shahzeel Ahmad.

According to earlier reports, 47 Pakistanis were among those rescued from the capsized boats that occurred yesterday in the southern region of Greece’s Crete Island, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said.

There is one confirmed Pakistani among the deceased. We are unable to verify the exact number of Pakistani nationals who have died or gone missing at this time,” the spokesperson stated in a press release.

Pakistan’s Embassy in Athens maintained communication with the Coast Guard of Chania and the Hellenic Coast Guard, who were directly involved in the search and rescue effort.

“The embassy officials have travelled to Crete to meet with the rescued Pakistanis and offer them any support they need,” the statement continued.

Foreign media claimed on December 14 that at least five migrants were killed when a wooden boat transporting them collapsed off the southern Greek island of Gavdos.
