IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja introduced the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2024 to the National Assembly.
The relevant standing committee has been tasked with further consideration of the measure.
The bill’s draft stated that it sought to empower Pakistan by promoting a vibrant digital economy, a dynamic digital society, and efficient digital governance.
The law acknowledged the potential of digital technology to promote social welfare, economic progress, and innovation, with an emphasis on enhancing governance.
In order to supervise efforts at digital transformation at all governmental levels, the bill suggested creating a Pakistan Digital Authority and a National Digital Commission.
These organizations will plan and carry out digital activities around the country.
