PIA flight carrying the CEO safely lands following an in-flight malfunction.
A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi to Islamabad experienced a technical malfunction shortly after takeoff.
A PIA representative stated that the problem occurred with the aircraft’s landing gear, which did not retract shortly after take-off.
The captain promptly communicated with the control tower, redirecting the flight to Karachi for an emergency landing.
Khurram Mushtaq, the CEO of PIA, was also on the flight from Karachi to Islamabad. Passengers were subsequently switched to an alternate aircraft, which successfully transported them to Islamabad.
The airplane was grounded because of a technical malfunction with the landing gear.
On December 19, it was reported that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is expediting its initiatives to render two grounded aircraft operable before to trips to Europe.
The aircraft—a Boeing 777 and an Airbus A320—were being readied for incorporation into active flight operations prior to European flights.
PIA sources indicate that the Boeing 777 is allocated for European routes and Hajj operations. The airplane has been grounded for more than a year, but its two engines are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today.
The inaugural operational flight of the Boeing 777 is set to depart for Paris on January 10.
The reactivation of these two aircraft will increase PIA’s active fleet to 18 planes, hence augmenting the airline’s operational capacity and service offerings.
