Ahsan Iqbal criticizes the PTI founder for stealing 190 million pounds.
The founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was sharply criticized by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry on Tuesday, who accused him of being engaged in a colossal fraud of Rs 64 billion in the 190 million pound case.
Such an act of embezzlement, the minister said, could never be pardoned.
Iqbal called it a desecration of religion and, in a harsh Senate response to the opposition leader’s charges, questioned how it was OK to embezzle billions of rupees and use the money to construct a mosque. He emphasized that the Pakistani people might have constructed ten institutions legally using the “Halal” funds.
The PTI chairman would not be exempt from responsibility for his role in the massive misappropriation of 190 million pounds, Iqbal said.
The minister further accused the PTI administration of ruining the economy while in power, disregarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), not conducting a population census, and inflicting losses to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) of more than Rs 2,300 billion.
