The verdict in the £190 million case will be announced today.

The verdict in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust corruption case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi will be delivered today (Friday).

Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the anti-corruption court will deliver the decision at Adiala Jail at 11:30 AM.

It is pertinent to mention here that Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the anti-corruption court had completed the hearing of 190 million pound case on December 18 but reserved the judgment until December 23. Subsequently, he established January 6 as the revised date for the verdict announcement, followed by January 13; however, each occasion was postponed.

What is the situation?

The £190 million lawsuit pertains to a reference submitted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his spouse Bushra Bibi, and others in December 2023.

The issue involves an alleged agreement between the PTI government and a real estate magnate, which purportedly resulted in a £190 million deficit for Pakistan’s national treasury.

Khan and the other defendants are purported to have misappropriated £190 million allocated by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) as part of the settlement. Bushra Bibi was designated as a defendant due to her position as a trustee of the Al-Qadir Trust.

The pair is also accused of obtaining improper advantages, including more than 458 kanals of land in Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, for the development of Al-Qadir University.

Throughout Khan’s administration, the NCA confiscated assets valued at £190 million from the magnate. The assets were meant to be handed to Pakistan, with the settlement deemed a civil matter by the NCA.

Nevertheless, the specifics of the exclusive arrangement were not revealed when Khan’s cabinet sanctioned it in December 2019. Subsequently, the Al-Qadir Trust was established in Islamabad.
