Adiala Jail will host a hearing on the May 9 GHQ attack case today.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Special Anti-Terrorism Court will preside over the session. Five of the prosecution’s most important eyewitnesses have so far had their testimony recorded on the first day.

The proceedings will be attended by Imran Khan, the founder and head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

More witnesses will be called by prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah to testify in the case during today’s session. In the first phase, 18 witnesses will have their statements recorded by the prosecution.

Eyewitnesses from the Rawalpindi police, including ASI Saqib and Constables Shakil, Sajjad, and Yasir, recorded their testimony during the prior hearing. Mobile phones, gasoline bombs, pieces of statuary destroyed in the attack, and a helmet purportedly taken from anti-riot authorities were among the evidence that the witnesses produced once the accused were apprehended.

There were also sticks, flags, PTI caps, matches, and cables used as evidence. According to reports, one cell phone was found during the court hearing.

The RA Bazar police station has around 143 defendants in the GHQ attack case, including the imprisoned founding PTI chairman Imran Khan. Shahbaz Gill and Zulfi Bukhari were among the 23 accused who the court had previously deemed to be absconders. An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad found ten individuals guilty on November 23 of their involvement in the rioting.
