Despite obstacles, PTI took the initiative to hold talks: Gohar Ali, Barrister

Despite obstacles, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took the initiative to engage in talks, according to its chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

At the Islamabad Court, Barrister Gohar told reporters that the PTI had made its requests known to the government, but that the government had postponed the negotiations.

“If the administration had been sincere, it would have acted right away. He continued, “Instead, they stated that they would respond in the committee room on January 28.”

The administration did not reply to the PTI’s proposal to establish a judicial commission, he continued. Negotiations were never supposed to be successful by the government. “Imran Khan took the initiative for dialogue despite all the hardships that were placed upon us,” he claimed.

He went on to say that the government ought to have offered PTI the opportunity to examine the events of May 9 and November 26 by forming a parliamentary committee rather than a judicial panel.

Prior to this, the PTI chairman denied having any backdoor connections. “No such talks had taken place before and were not taking place now.”

Barrister Gohar explained that no further meetings had been held, except with the Army Chief.
