Punjab refuses to release IGP Dr. Usman at the request of the federal government.
Dr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General of Police (IG) for Punjab, has been contacted by the federal government to provide his services.
Sources claim that the Punjabi government turned down the proposal, stating that “unwarranted transfers of officers are unacceptable”.
The federal government has now asked Dr. Anwar’s assistance three times, but Punjab has reaffirmed its position and informed Islamabad of its rejection.
Dr. Usman Anwar had been doing remarkably well, according to officials, and a change was not necessary at this moment. “It is true that we have declined to relieve Dr Usman Anwar,” sources claim.
They also emphasised Punjab’s remarkable improvements in law and order, including a decline in crime. The Punjab government believes there is no reason to immediately alter police oversight in light of these facts.
