Pakistan pledged to combat cancer: Prime Minister
In an effort to increase awareness, spur action, and reaffirm its commitment to fighting cancer—the second biggest cause of death worldwide—Pakistan stands in solidarity with people worldwide, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Monday.
“Pakistan has made significant progress in cancer research, treatment, and patient care,” he said in a statement on February 4, World Cancer Day. Cancer patients now have better results thanks to developments in medical knowledge, early identification, and better healthcare facilities. However, cancer remains a major public health challenge, and we must continue our collective efforts to prevent, diagnose, and treat this disease effectively.”
There are significant actions we can take to lower the risk of cancer, even though there are other risk factors—like genetic predisposition and environmental influences—that may be out of our control. Since early diagnosis is essential for good management of this condition, prompt identification, efficient treatment, and regular exercise can help prevent it. I encourage all Pakistanis to seek prompt medical consultation and screenings,” he continued.
According to him, the Pakistani government is still dedicated to bolstering the country’s cancer care system, funding research, and guaranteeing that everyone has access to reasonably priced, high-quality treatment.
“To improve our ability to prevent and treat cancer, we are still collaborating with researchers, medical professionals, and worldwide organizations. Pakistan understands the need of international collaboration in addressing this menace.
We have advanced research, innovation, and medical advances through significant and goal-oriented partnerships with the global community.
“On this day, we reaffirm our government’s commitment to ensuring early detection and affordable treatment of cancer,” the prime minister stated.
He invited all stakeholders to join in efforts to promote awareness regarding cancer, support those affected, and take proactive steps toward a healthier, cancer-free future for the nation.
