KP’s free solar system program has 1.6 million registrations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s free solar system program has more than 1.6 million registered participants, the province’s energy agency reports.

65,000 beneficiaries would receive solar power systems in each of the two phases of this program, which would provide solar power systems to 130,000 eligible persons. Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) participants are eligible for the free solar system.

Solar systems would be provided at a 50% discount to customers who use up to 100 units of electricity per month, according to officials. An estimated PKR 200,000 is the entire cost of one system. Once the registration deadline has passed, the scrutiny process will start.
