Projects and the safety of Chinese workers must be guaranteed: FO

Pakistan reiterated that, as China’s All-weather Strategic Cooperative partner and the host nation, the Pakistani government’s top priority was to ensure the safety and security of Chinese workers, projects, and institutions in Pakistan.
During President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to China, Pakistan reaffirmed its strong condemnation of the terrorist acts in Pakistan that involved Chinese forces, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a statement during his weekly news conference on Thursday.
He claimed that President Zardari and President Xi Jinping had cordial and cordial discussions during the visit. They engaged in a thorough discussion on regional and global issues of shared interest as well as China-Pakistan relations. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, and Zhao Leiji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, met with President Zardari respectively.
The Pakistani side highly commended and expressed strong support for the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping. The two sides agreed to step up international cooperation in this regard.
“Pakistan reiterated its unwavering adherence to the one-China policy. It holds that Taiwan is an unalienable component of the People’s Republic of China’s territory and that China’s fundamental interests revolve around the Taiwan issue. On matters pertaining to Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Xizang, and the South China Sea, Pakistan would likewise unwaveringly back China,” he continued.
According to the spokesperson, President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative was praised by the Pakistani side. The two sides decided to work together to construct a growth corridor, a livelihood-enhancing corridor, an innovation corridor, a green corridor, and an open corridor in order to foster the implementation of the eight key measures on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation in Pakistan.
