As the sole route to enduring peace in the area, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian problem.
“The region is still reeling from the aftershocks of the Gaza war, which claimed the lives of 50,000 Palestinians,” the prime minister stated during the World Governments Summit in Dubai.
In accordance with United Nations resolutions, the premier underlined Pakistan’s strong support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.
Goals for investments and economic recovery
Turning his attention to Pakistan’s economic future, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the nation is recovering despite exceptional obstacles. According to him, Pakistan was at a turning point in its economic development. The premier also emphasized a notable drop in inflation, which dropped to 2.4% in January, and a 12% interest rate, which he claimed attracted investment from the private sector.
He also emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to attaining sustainable development, pointing out that the nation needs to invest $100 billion in the energy industry alone to meet its expanding needs. “Achieving development goals and creating new opportunities is our first priority,” said the prime minister.
Sustainable energy
The prime minister discussed Pakistan’s energy transition and revealed bold ambitions to produce 60% of the nation’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030. In an effort to lessen reliance on fossil fuels, he also disclosed that 30% of automobiles will be powered by electricity.
“We are working diligently to expand our solar energy capacity, ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable future,” he said.
