Punjab forbids home car washes and levies steep fines!

Officially, the Punjab Environment Department has prohibited utilizing water pipes and washing cars at home. Violators would be fined Rs 10,000.

The action is in accordance with the Lahore High Court’s order to reduce excessive water waste in light of the province’s diminishing rainfall.

The agency has issued a letter stating that all unauthorized service stations must immediately close. Additionally, a substantial fine of Rs100,000 will be imposed on service stations that do not have a water recycling system. By February 28, 2025, service stations throughout Punjab must have water recycling systems in order to abide by the new rules.

Additionally, the notification forbids the use of groundwater on building sites and oil for car washing.

Punjab has received 42% less, according to officials.
