Following transfers, five IHC judges petition the Supreme Court to overturn the seniority list.

Five judges petitioned the Supreme Court over the seniority list, sparking a court war over the seniority of judges in the Islamabad High Court.
Justices Babar Sattar, Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Saman Rafat Imtiaz, Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, and Mohsin Akhtar Kayani have all challenged the seniority in their appeal.
The petition, which is 49 pages long, was filed under Article 184(3) by Barrister Salahuddin and senior legal counsel Munir A. Malik.
The Supreme Court is urged by the petition to rule that the president is not granted unrestricted power under Article 200(1) to move judges between high courts in the absence of a compelling public purpose. It states that these transfers shouldn’t be carried out at random.
The lawsuit also asks that Justice Sarfraz Dogar be prevented from acting as the acting chief justice and that the duties of three transferred judges be suspended.
In order to contest the seniority ruling, the five judges had previously enlisted the legal services of Barrister Salahuddin and Munir A. Malik.
It is important to note that these five judges’ seniority representation was earlier rejected by former IHC CJ Aamer Farooq.
Their petition was initially filed in opposition to the decision that placed Justice Sarfraz Dogar the senior puisne judge.
