A technical mission from the IMF is in Pakistan to discuss climate finance.

A technical delegation from the four-member International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived here Monday to discuss climate finance.
The IMF team and federal and provincial authorities are reportedly planning to negotiate “on green budgeting, climate spending tagging, tracking, and reporting” between today and February 28.
According to sources, a plan to include a carbon tax in the fiscal year 2025–2026 budget is being considered.
They also stated that the IMF will offer comments regarding the fee and that a preliminary draft will be reviewed during negotiations.
According to the sources, the IMF team will also offer recommendations for extending green spending in the next budget, and there will also be a discussion on electric vehicles and incentives.
The sources said that today’s talks will only include ways to combat climate change, including briefings on federal and provincial climate projects.
