The blatant gun and bomb attack on the Jaffar Express, which was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, resulted in the deaths of up to 33 terrorists and the martyrdom of 25 people, including four security personnel.

Speaking to Dunya News, ISPR DG

Speaking on Dunya News’ “On the Front” show, Lt Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had earlier asserted that 21 civilians had already been killed before the operation started. All passengers were safely recovered at the end of the rescue operation, but four FC members also accepted martyrdom, he said.

He claimed that great care and professionalism were used in the last clearance operation to make sure the hostages were safe. According to him, the rescue was carried out step-by-step after the terrorists split the passengers into three groups.

According to him, members of the Pakistan Army, Air Force, FC, and SSG participated in the operation.

The perpetrators behind the Jaffar Express attack have nothing to do with Islam or Balochistan, the ISPR DG said.

He revealed that with the help and encouragement of foreign handlers, the terrorists targeted innocent individuals and used passengers as human shields.

According to him, the attack scene was far away and challenging to reach. Security forces were able to effectively rescue women and children in spite of these obstacles. Terrorists targeted the railroad track and captured people on March 11 at 1pm, starting the attack.

The ISPR DG further noted that the connection between terrorists and their followers was made public by Indian media, which aired old tapes as soon as the incident happened.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an all-party conference (APC) to discuss the law and order situation amid rising incidents of terrorism in the country.
